Matthew Kavanagh joined the Tyra Law Firm in 2017. Matthew practices civil litigation in the field of insurance defense. Prior to joining the firm, Matthew worked as a law clerk in the Government Litigation Section of the Indiana Attorney General’s Office.
Matthew graduated from Indiana University South Bend in 2014 with a major in political science and a minor in business, and from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2016.
At Indiana University South Bend, Matthew was actively involved on campus, serving consecutive terms as Secretary and, thereafter, Vice President of the Student Government Association. He was recognized for his campus and community service by receiving the John M. Lewis Award for Civic Engagement and Who’s Who Among College and Universities. Academically, Matthew was invited to join Phi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society in 2013. In law school, Matthew participated in the Robert H. Staton Intramural Moot Court Competition and was a member of the Dean’s Tutorial Society. He also participated in a Civil Mediation Training, completing over 40 hours of mediation techniques and strategies. Finally, Matthew completed over 200 hours of pro bono work, earning a Gold Level Recognition.
Matthew is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association as well as the Indianapolis Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern District of Indiana.
